future projects
Our goal is to work together to create projects that expand access to land and buildings for a variety of uses in an equitable and thoughtful way. This is likely to take many different forms depending on the needs of the community, available resources, and the requirements dictated by each individual site. Possible projects throughout the greater Kearsarge area could take the following forms:
The acquisition of additional properties to steward as housing and/or farm lands for future generations of local community members
The conversion of an existing single family home into a multi-family home, which could allow the existing owner an affordable way to stay in their home while also providing a new housing option to an individual or family
A small pocket neighborhood, also called cluster housing development, with shared open space, gardens, and conservation lands, within walking distance of village centers
Working with other local groups to provide reliable seasonal housing for local farm workers
Helping local farmers gain long term access to land for growing on as well as securing or building on-farm housing
Revitalizing an empty storefront by working with a small business or multiple businesses and providing long term lease opportunities for them
Working with a town and other partners to develop shared community trails, a community garden, and/or a community forest
Other projects as identified by our communities that fit within KCLT’s mission and scope of work
